A Closer Look at Anne’s Work

The exhibition There, All Along, featuring visual artist Anne as part of the satellite program of Kyōto YouMe Triennale 2026, has come to a close.
We would like to express our sincere thanks to everyone who took an interest in the exhibition, as well as to everyone involved in the Triennale who made this opportunity possible.
Through Anne’s work, the exhibition invited us to turn our attention to things we often overlook, or things that have been there all along without our noticing them. We give names to things, assign meanings to them, and come to understand them through what we already know. But how certain are those understandings? Even when we think we are seeing something as it is, we may be seeing it only through the frameworks we already have.
The title There, All Along reflects this intention: to turn our attention once again to what has been there all along.
Story Behind the Work
In conjunction with the exhibition, we have launched a new series, “Story Behind the Work,” on the Gallery Rin website.
Through this series, we explore selected works by Anne, examining the ideas and motifs behind them, as well as the connections between different works, through Gallery Rin’s own perspective and interpretation.
We believe that learning about the background of a work does not necessarily mean settling on a single interpretation. Rather, it can open up new connections that we had not noticed before, or prompt us to reconsider the way we see things.
We hope to deepen your engagement with Anne’s work by valuing both what you feel when standing before a work and what comes into view after discovering more about its background.
We invite you to revisit the works and discover new ways of seeing them.
