We are pleased to present "There, All Along", an exhibition by visual artist Anne at Gallery Rin in Kyoto.
In the quiet atmosphere of Kyoto, this exhibition may introduce a subtle shift
in how we perceive what we see.
In the days leading up to the exhibition, I will be sharing a series of quiet notes
— reflections on what I encountered while spending time with Anne’s work.
Anne Exhibition "There, All Along"
18 May – 29 May 2026
Monday – Friday
12:00 – 16:00
In accordance with the gallery’s hours
There are ways of seeing
that begin to feel unquestionable.
Not because they are true,
but because they are repeated —
until they quietly settle into the background.
Over time,
what we hear begins to shape
what feels natural,
what feels right.
In a time when so much reaches us through screens,
it becomes harder to know what we are truly seeing.
And yet,
when another perspective appears,
that certainty can loosen.
What we take as given
may not be as fixed as it feels.
Spending time with Anne’s work,
I returned to this feeling.
That what we take as given
is not always something we have chosen —
but something we have learned,
and rarely question.
And sometimes,
it takes only a slight shift
to realize
how much of what feels certain
is not entirely our own.
This exhibition does not offer answers.
It invites us
into that subtle shift.
